And I’m good with it! But my hubby is not. Need to get organized buy I get sidetracked so easily! I’ll start a project and then I see something that needs to be worked on. Or I will start organizing and then I see an unfinished project. I need to stick to one thing…NOT going to happen! My mind is constantly working. I guess my creative juices are working overtime! How about you? How do you keep your craft room or studio nice and neat?
Word of the year for 2013 and probably the century. I must admit that I take selfies with my iPhone in the car, on the bus, at home, with friends and with CeeCee. Some turn out great and others not so great (that delete button is an awesome tool!) This is my favourite selfie. The original coloured version looked very ordinary so I started playing around with the photo filter on the iPhone and voila…a black & white version. No wrinkles and freckles! Just me and my gigantic glasses.
Have you taken a selfie lately?
Sorry for being MIA! Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
January is the beginning of the new year and the start of many resolutions. I made one or two but I won’t tell you because it may not come to fruition. Anyhoo…I wanted to start my first post in 2014 with a positive vibe so I am letting you know about 5 favourite things. I have a lot of faves but these five stand out the most.
- My fur baby…CeeCee
- Vintage treasures
What are some of your favourite things?
No rest for the wicked! This year I decided to participate in a few (four in total) local craft fairs or market around my neck of the woods and one out in the valley. I wanted to get my name out there and participating at local markets/shows gave me the opportunity. I’ve been in a creative mode for the last little while. Creating more items for the shows/market instead of listing items in the Store. My bad…I will get to it eventually.
The first craft market was Creative Finds Craft Market:
The second was Simonds Elementary Annual Christmas Craft Sale:
The third one was Crafty Affaire Holiday Market:
One more to go on December 13 & 14. Then I can breathe easy…NOT! Must get the house ready for Christmas. So there is really no rest for the wicked!
Yup…you heard correctly! I still play with dolls! I play with them in a different way than I did when I was a child. I get a little more creative with them. Wait a minute…I guess I did that too when I was younger. Some things never change!
Anyhoo…I was playing around with some doll graphics and shrinky sink plastic (remember this when you were younger!) I wanted to make some pins but they did not turn out the way I expected. I started with a 5 cm circle and after baking the shrinky dink plastic I ended up with a 2 cm circle. What can I do with these little things? They are cute but they are pretty teeny!
As I mentioned in my previous post I’ve been busy creating. I’ve been reStyling or reDesigning thrift store finds and making some vintage inspired goodies. The next market I will be in is Portobello West Fall Market. Portobello West showcases wares from local designers, artists & producers. I was fortunate enough to be joining some talented peeps. The Market is held at the Creekside Community Recreation Centre in Vancouver. This is an awesome venue!
Anyhoo…below are some of my creations,
Vintage inspired desk lamp or pendant light
ReStyled Vintage Milk Glass Lantern using Cottage Paint
I’ve also been trying out different chalk/clay paints that are made locally. I’ll tell you about in a future post.
My bad…I’ve been slacking on blogging lately. My time has been spent on Pinterest, Facebook & creating (or making a mess, according to my hubby!)
Pinterest is very addictive and I told myself that I will spend only one hour a day to on Pinterest, but this is not the case! I guess I shouldn’t lie to myself! I have two Pinterest accounts. One account has 75 boards and over 4,000 pins & the other account has 47 boards and almost 2,000 pins. I pin when I am commuting to work, at lunch , on the way home and before bed. You should check out my boards, you can find it here. Below is a sampling of some of my boards on Pinterest.
You should give Pinterest a try if you haven’t already. You’ll become an addict like me!
Saturday was a beautiful day for an outdoor market. Not a cloud in the sky…the sun was shining all day. Deja Vu Vintage Market was held at the Wellbrook Winery in Delta. The perfect location for a vintage market.
It was my first outdoor vintage market and I really enjoyed myself. I was very good and I only bought one item…I am so proud of myself! Here’s a few photos of my booth. I wish I took more!
I met some awesome vendors and sooooooo many awesome vintage goodies. Here are some of the vintage goodness that was all around me!
I love books! Specially first edition hardcovers. I read a lot of paper backs and when I am done reading with them I usually pass it on to whoever wants to read it next. I also have a lot of paper backs that are just sitting around. So I figured I’d recycle them. I needed props for my market displays and found some great ideas on Pinterest. Some were awesome! But I went for the simple look. I remember my mom making angels with an old Reader’s Digest book and it is basically the same principle.
If you want to learn more about book page art, check out this The Repurposed Library. This is one book you don’t want to recycle!
